La Flecha y la Canción

…y amigos hay más unidos
que un hermano
Libro de Proverbios

The Arrow and the Song
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

La Flecha y la Canción
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Lancé una flecha al aire azul.
Debió caer. ¿Donde cayó?
Voló tan rauda que la vista
seguir su vuelo no logró.

Di una canción al aire azul.
Debió caer ¿Dónde cayó?
Fué tan sutil y tan vehemente
que sabe Dios dónde paró.

Mucho más tarde hallé en un roble
la antigua flecha ¿Y la canción?
También la hallé, pues a un amigo
se le adentró en el corazón...
